The Volcanoes National Park is situated in the Virunga Mountains, a stunning chain of inactive volcanoes in the northern part of the country. This region is the last refuge of the world's mountain gorilla populations, with only around 700 individuals remaining. After breakfast, you will leave the lodge and drive for about an hour to the Park Headquarters. Here, you will meet experienced local guides and trackers who will give you a comprehensive briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette. Once the briefing is over, the forest hike begins.

The trek through the park with your guide is a physically demanding activity that can last either the morning or the entire day, depending on the search for gorilla families. The guide will lead you to the area where the gorillas were spotted the previous night and start tracking them from there. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours and may involve climbing to altitudes not exceeding 7,500 feet. The terrain is rugged and can be quite muddy at times. However, once the gorillas are found, all the physical discomfort is forgotten, as the experience is often described as discovering a hidden natural gem in the mist. You will have one hour to observe the gorillas, and each group is limited to a maximum of 8 participants. Visitors are required to maintain a minimum distance of 7 meters (approximately 22 feet) from the gorillas. It is highly recommended to bring cameras with ample storage space. As rain can occur at any time in the forest, it is advised to wear waterproof clothing and protect your camera equipment accordingly. Please be aware that plastic bags, such as carrier or shopping bags, are prohibited in Rwanda. Children under the age of 15 and individuals with colds, the flu, or any other contagious illness are not allowed to visit the gorillas.

Explore the dense rainforest of Volcanoes National Park to find the golden monkeys. Rwanda is one of the few places where humans can observe these beautiful primates in their natural habitat. Before the trek, a briefing is given at the park headquarters. The guides will lead you through the jungle to where the monkeys can be seen. There are currently two groups of golden monkeys near Mt. Sabyinyo. These inquisitive primates are accustomed to humans and will entertain visitors by leaping from tree to tree as they eat bamboo shoots. Witness these unique animals play and perform in the forest for about an hour.

There is a luggage restriction of 15kg (32 lb) per person for both carry-on and checked luggage. For checked luggage, it should be soft-sided, without wheels or spine. Today is the perfect opportunity to discover the incredible Ngorongoro Crater, one of Tanzania's most remarkable wildlife conservation areas. You will depart from your camp in a privately driven vehicle, accompanied by a local expert guide. Together, you will make your way to the park entrance, and then continue driving for around 20 minutes until you reach the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. This crater is the largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera in the world, formed by a massive explosion that caused the volcano to collapse inward. The result is a massive crater that is roughly 12 miles wide and about 2,000 feet deep. It takes approximately 45 minutes by vehicle to descend from the rim to the crater floor. The crater floor is incredibly fertile, which has attracted a dense population of wildlife. Currently, there are over 25,000 large animals living in the crater, including some of the last remaining black rhinos in the world. The crater is also home to some of the highest concentrations of carnivores, such as lions, hyenas, cheetahs, and jackals.
