Upon arrival in Sisimiut, the second largest city in Greenland, you will be greeted with a blend of modern culture and ancient traditions. Start your exploration with a city tour that includes the colonial quarter, museum, and church, offering a glimpse into Greenland's daily life in the 21st century. As evening approaches, continue your voyage northward through Sisimiut Isortuat Fjord, passing by settlements such as Attu, Ikerasaarsuk, and Kangaatsiaq. Throughout the night, you will cross Aasiaat and enter the southern waters of Disko Bay, now located above the Arctic Circle. The ship will then head towards Disko Island, famous for its unique 3,280 feet layered crags. The next stop is on the southern tip of Disko Island, in Godhavn or Qeqertarsuaq. Despite its different landscape, Qeqertarsuaq has a rich history and used to be an important economic center for Greenland. It was prosperous from the 16th century and was considered the most important town north of Nuuk until the mid-1900s, thanks to its whale hunting population. During your visit, you can explore the town, see the unique octagonal church nicknamed “God’s Inkpot,” and participate in a traditional Greenlandic gathering called “Kaffemik” at the local community center. The Kaffemik involves coffee, cake, traditional dances, and music.

Today, you will be in Uummannaq, Greenland, almost 370 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Uummannaq is known for its stunning landscape and sunny weather. The town is located on a small island and is named after the heart-shaped mountain that overlooks it. Take some time to explore the city before returning to the ship for lunch. From the town, you can see breathtaking views of the island's towering rock faces, the snow-covered peaks of the Nuussuaq peninsula to the south, and the fjord. The fjord is filled with icebergs of all shapes and sizes, which gracefully float by driven by the wind and current. The area is also home to five active glaciers, which guarantees ample opportunities to spot icebergs. As you walk along the town's steep streets, be sure to visit the historic train-oil building, which was constructed in 1860 and was once used to store whale and seal blubber.

In the morning, the cruise ship will have reached the magnificent Eqip Sermia Glacier, a renowned natural highlight. Enjoy lunch on the sun deck, with the glacier as a magnificent backdrop. Situated approximately 50 nautical miles north of Ilulissat, this glacier is famous for its beauty. Arctic explorers and glaciologist Alfred de Quervain have used this location as a base in the past. Get close to the edge of the ice while staying safe from falling blocks. In the afternoon, head to Ilulissat, known as the iceberg capital. The ship will berth in the evening, allowing for an evening walk to the Sermermiut Plain.

Ilulissat in Greenland is admirably positioned and aptly named as ‘the Iceberg Capital’. Massive icebergs float in the waters of Disko Bay, created by the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier. The breathtaking scenery of the Icefjord has earned it a spot on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Ilulissat has thrived for over 250 years and is now a lively town with various cultural attractions. As evening falls, you will sail away from Disko Bay, leaving the Iceberg Capital behind.

Sarfannguit, meaning "the place of the little stream," is a settlement located in the remote backcountry, surrounded by mountains and glaciers. With a population of over 100 residents, the community relies on hunting, trapping, and fishing for their livelihood, focusing on arctic char, reindeer, and musk oxen. Despite its remote location, Sarfannguit is conveniently located within a few hours from Sisimiut, the second-largest town in Greenland, providing important economic benefits. Despite the presence of modern conveniences like the internet and smartphones, Sarfannguit still holds strong to its customs, traditions, and Inuit heritage. The journey will then take us to Kangerlussuaq, also known as Sondre Stromfjord, where we can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of high mountains and deep valleys.
